The natural wonders of Arizona and Utah

Driving through Arizona and Utah, you appreciate the variety of landscapes that nature offers and wonder how these canyons were formed and how majestic they were.  Here are some of my favorites.

Bryce Canyon – this geological beauty is not to be missed.  These gigantic amphitheaters defy any description.  The pink color, the natural erosions creating beautiful carvings are a treat to the eyes and makes you wonder how did this happen and keep reminding how lucky we are to witness these amazing things in life.

These structures are called Hoodoos.  Located in Utah, the park is really worth the visit.  Although the Grand Canyon is more popular, I personally like the Bryce Canyon a lot. The color is just so pleasing. The whole place leaves you in awe.

Antelope Canyon –  This is a slot canyon.  It has a rich red color and when the sun light falls on it, the colors and hues are a beauty.  It is located at the Navajo Tribal Park.  You cannot visit this park independently.  You have to go through one of the tour operators. Upper Antelope canyon is on ground level and does not require climbing. Lower Antelope Canyon is a little difficult hike and requires climbing stairs.

Grand Canyon – True to it’s name, it is really GRAND!! It is a steep sided canyon carved by Colorado river. Apart from sightseeing, there are several activities here rafting, hiking, climbing, helicopter tours and skydiving.

Monument Valley – is a cluster of sandstone buttes (hills) with the largest one about 1000 ft.  This large buttes is very impressive and picturesque.
