Halebidu Temple, also known as Hoysaleswara Temple is a very popular temple in the State of Karnataka in India. This temple was built in the 12th century by the Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana. This temple along with Belur Temple has the most beautiful stone carvings. The detailed carvings and the architecture will leave you speechless. It’s a treasure that should be preserved and respected. In my opinion, this should be part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We did a day trip from Bangalore. We drove from Bangalore and it took us about 4 hours from Bangalore. These temples are not very huge when compared many other South Indian temples. The carvings are exquisite and truly amazing. I also loved the soap stone miniature figurines and dolls sold outside the temple. It was a very hot and sultry day yet worth the drive.
